Uploading a PDF File To Link To

Have you created flyers to market your company with? Would you like your clients to be able to download these flyers from your website? Here is how you link them in.

When you have the PDF file ready to link to do the following:

1. In your editor, highlight the text you want to make into a link as shown below circled in red on the left.
2. Then click on the Link icon circled in blue below to get the popup shown below.
3. Click on Browse Server in the popup, circled in red below.
   
   
   
   
4. Another popup comes up as shown below. Verify that the Resource Type is File as circled on the left below.
5. Click on Browse in the bottom bar to browse your computer to look for the pdf file you want to upload. Select it when you find it. It's path will then show up in the white box to the left of the Browse button.
6. When you see that, then hit the Upload button in the bottom bar on the far right. This will upload the pdf to the web server.
7. When you see your uploaded file displayed in the list as indicated by the blue text below, click on it to select it. The popup will go away and return you to the last popup, shown above.
8. The path to your uploaded PDF file will display in the URL text box in that popup. Click on Okay at the bottom to finish the link.
9. You may want the pdf to open in a new window instead of to replace your site in the same window. To get that, click on the Target tag before you click on Okay in the step above. Select "New Window (_blank)" in the drop-down. Then click Okay after all.
   
   

Embed a Tour Right Into Your Website

We have been asked many times how to do this. This method is not for the faint of heart. It works best for those of you who have at least a little knowledge about html coding since you will be working within the Source code of your site.

1. To begin, you must first be logged into your site manager. You should also have open (in another browser window) the "Alternate linking options" link found now on the deliverables page for the tour you want to embed.
   
   
2. On your website, open the editor of the page you want to embed the tour into. In the top bar, click on Source to access the source code of the page.
   
   
   
   
   
   
Here's where you need to know a little bit about html in order to find where in the page's code that you want to place the embedded tour.


3. Locate the position in the code on your page and copy and paste the iframe code you selected from your "Alternate linking options" page into that area.

4. You are done, so make sure you 'Submit' the page to save it!

Editor Tips

Use the CMS help screens or the CKeditor help screens to get used to using the site editor in general. These are just tips to help you with specific questions you have about the content inside of each page.

It is recommended that you size your images appropriately before uploading them. The size they need to be is NO LARGER THAN 500 pixels wide at 72 dpi (quite small). The site can do it on the fly but it will provide your site's visitors with a faster browsing experience if you have previously sized and compressed them. The pictures will load very s-l-o-w-l-y on your site if you upload them at full size.

To place the image on the right or left of text on your page just use the Align drop-down in the image pop-up window. To add space around that image, so your text doesn't butt right up to it, add 5 or 10 (pixels) into the hpsace (horizontal space) field, or the vspace (vertical space) field. If you do not select any alignment for your image, the text will not wrap around it.

To add a link to your image once you have your image in place, click on the 'Link' tab in the same popup. Here replace any existing link with your new link. Adding a link to an image will give that image a blue border in many browsers. This can be avoided by going back to the Image Info tab in that same pop-up and putting zero into the border field. Click okay, and if you did everything right, your new image and link should be there instead. Scroll to the bottom of the edit page and click 'Submit'.

Adding your own images
This is very similar to the process just described. Instead of clicking on an image to replace it, you will place your cursor where you want your new tour image to be. Then you will complete the process the same way after you click on the Insert/Edit Image icon.

Adding/Deleting rows from your Pricing Packages
Place your cursor inside of the first cell in the row above the row you want to add (or inside the row you want to delete). In Windows, right click in that cell to get a pop-up menu as shown here. On a Mac, Control-click to get this menu.

It is recommended that you don't try to get too fancy with these options, and only really use them to add and delete rows. But if you venture out further, and find something doesn't look the way you anticipated, have no fear. Your page is never saved until you hit the 'Submit' button at the bottom. Leave the page and you will lose any changes you've made.

If you have the old expandable package tables, please DO NOT use this menu to delete those package tables! There is invisible code around the package tables that cause them to open and close dynamically on your site. Deleting the package table will mess this up and possibly disable all the packages on your page. Please contact dealersite@bytepages.com to add or delete package tables.

Editing the text on your site
While you are editing the text on your site, you will quickly notice that when you hit 'Return' to go to the next line, the editor jumps down an extra row. The editor is built to recognize the use of the 'Return' key as the beginning of a new paragraph. You can override this and create a single line hard return by holding down the 'Shift' key before you hit 'Return.' This works great for putting the captions below your tour images.

Adding a link to text or an image
The "Insert/Edit Link" button has an icon looking like a globe with a couple of chain links. Like the button above, hovering your mouse over this button will reveal its title, and clicking on it will provide you with another menu you can use to proceed to add a link to your site. Be sure to select or highlight the text and/or images that you want the link to work on before you click this button.

Adding Paypal Buttons

Assistance with placing Paypal buttons on your site can be provided to you for free for 90 days after your site goes live. After that 90 day period our assistance will cost $100/hr. Placing Paypal buttons on your site can take us anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on how many buttons you want to place.

It is very important that you first get your products customized to your preferred pricing and offerings before you arrange for placement of Paypal buttons on your site. When you're ready to do it, allow yourself 1-4 hours to get all the code you need to provide us with from Paypal.

If you are familiar enough with html, you can place that code you obtain into your pages yourself. It's as easy as finding the location for your button within your Source code of the page you want to place the button on, and pasting the Paypal code for it in there. If html looks like a foreign language to you, then it's important that you address placing the buttons on your site within the first 90 days to take advantage of the free assistance from us.

If you'd like to add the Paypal buttons, then you need to establish a Premier or Business Paypal account at paypal.com (if you haven't already).

Request the code for each button you'd like to place on your site by doing this on the Paypal website:

1. Log into your account (Important! These buttons can be obtained whether you're logged in or not, but you will get the wrong style block of code that will cause later problems if you're not logged in)
2. go to 'Merchant Services'
3. select 'Website Payments Standard' in the left column
4. select 'Sell multiple items' (add to cart)

   You need to get a separate button for each product. You will also need the code for a 'View Cart' button.

5. Once you create your first button you get to this screen:
   
   
   

   Here's an example of code you need for an 'Add to cart' button for each product, as shown in the red square above:

   You will need a block of code like that for every product.

   Here's how to copy and paste, if you need help with that:

   • To copy, Click down at the beginning of the text you want to copy and hold while you drag to the end of the text you want to copy. The text should then be highlighted. (In the window shown above they give you a button to Select Code. Clicking that button will automatically copy the code to your clipboard, bypassing step 2 below.)
   • Then hold down the Control key on your keyboard. Click the 'C' key while you're still holding down Control. Let go of Control. This will copy what you highlighted to your 'clipboard'.
   • To paste into your email message your going to send to us, click down with your cursor where you want to paste the code. Then hold down your Control key and click the 'V' key to paste the code there. Let go of Control.

   You should copy that block of code and paste it either into the source code of the page you want it on, or into an email to us (during that 90 day window), labeling it for what it applies to. Then click "Create similar button" or "Create a new button," as circled above, to move onto the next button.

   You will also need ONE block of code for the 'View Cart' button that would look something like this:

   When you're done with all your buttons, click "Create a View Cart button," as circled in the image above, and place a View Cart button on each page you have Add to Cart buttons on, or send us the code if we're assisting you with the button placement.

   IMPORTANT: Before you copy and paste the View Cart code, you must select the "Remove code protection" link to get the code to look like the code shown above. Here's where you will find that on the screen you copy the code from:

   

   Copy and paste the code you get AFTER SELECTING 'Remove code protection' into your site, or into the email you've prepared to send. It should look just like the code typed out above. If it has an extremely long string of numbers and letters in it, then you have not clicked on the 'Remove code protection' link as instructed.

6. If we are assisting you with your button placement, clearly label each section of code in the email so we will know where to place it on your site. Place all the code you need to send in one email addressed to dealersite@bytepages.com. As we place the buttons onto your site, we will contact you if we need any further information.
